Stress fractures: general concepts.

Abstract

This article is an overview of the general concepts about stress fractures, including history, epidemiology, and cause. The proper diagnosis, confirmation studies, and treatment regimens are presented. Finally, the timing of the athlete's return to sports, with stress fracture prevention measures are reviewed.
