Intraoral open reduction.

J C Klein.

Abstract

The indications for intraoral open reduction of mandibular fractures are essentially the same as those for extraoral procedures. Advantages and disadvantages inherent in this technique are discussed. Intraoral open reduction offers a simple, direct approach to the treatment of certain mandibular fractures and offers advantages over the standard extraoral open reduction method. A review of the technical aspects of this approach is presented, and some potential problem areas are discussed.
