Structure and metabolism of tendons.

M O'Brien1.

Abstract

A tendon forms an integral part of musculotendinous unit. It transmits the tensions generated in muscles to bone. Tendons are stronger than muscles and are able to withstand larger forces. Tendons are subject to both tensile and high compressive forces.
