Possible linkage between the major histocompatibility complex and the immune response to factor VIII in classic haemophilia.

Abstract

The pattern of HLA segregation was analyzed in 10 sibships of haemophilia A patients, each of which included 1 or 2 haemophilic brothers with an antibody to factor VIII. The observed HLA distribution is suggestive of a linkage between the major histocompatibility complex and a gene responsible for immune response to isologous factor VIII.
