Abstract
When the proximal and distal elements of wire-frame cubes are conflated, observers perceive illusory structures that no longer behave veridically. These phenomena suggest that what we normally see depends on visual associations generated by experience. The necessity of such learning may explain why the mammalian visual system is subject to a prolonged period of plasticity in early life, when novel circuits are made in enormous numbers.Entities:
