Benign hepatic portal venous gas following blunt abdominal trauma.

M J Dill-Macky1.

Abstract

A case of transient hepatic portal venous gas (HPVG) following blunt abdominal trauma is presented. No evidence of a serious mucosal breach or direct complication was seen. Benign forms of HPVG are being increasingly reported and must be considered in order to avoid unnecessary invasive procedures.
