Abstract
The extraordinary capacity of the immune system to recognise and distinguish between molecules that are almost identical can be exploited to generate reagents useful for the identification of specific determinants on drugs, blood-derived products, hormones, receptors or micro-organisms. This manuscript provides a rationale for the use of epitope mapping and a brief outline of its multiple applications.Mesh:
