Abstract
A new meristematic black yeast species, Sarcinomyces petricola, is described. All strains known to date were isolated from sun-exposed marble in the Mediterranean basin. On the basis of PCR-ribotyping and nutritional physiology, the species is classified as an anamorph member of the ascomycete family Herpotrichiellaceae (Chaetothyriales).Entities:
