Managing procedural pain in children with burns. Part 1: Assessment of pain in children.

A Bonham1.

Abstract

Managing procedural pain in a child involves multiple factors, including how to evaluate the pain. This process is more difficult with children because of differences in cognitive and physical development. A multidimensional model for the assessment of pain in a pediatric burn patient is presented along with recommendations based on various levels of development.
