Abstract
Mucormycosis is an uncommon severe life-threatening fungal infection in the immunocompromised host caused by fungi belonging to the order Mucorales, most commonly Rhizopus arrhizus (R. oryzae). We report a patient who developed a severe right atrial catheter exit site infection with Absidia corymbifera. The catheter was removed and necrotic tissue debrided. With liposomal amphotericin B and G-CSF, the infection subsided. He remains well 8 months later.Entities:
