Carcinoma of the large bowel in Uganda.

J C Ssali.

Abstract

A personal series of 41 cases of carcinoma of the large bowel seen in Uganda during 7 years is presented. The relatively young age of the patients compared with the patients in Western countries is discussed. Diet probably played no role in the aetiology of the disease in this series. It is observed that in carcinoma of the rectum the lesion is usually low, necessitating resection of the rectum, which the patients frequently refuse.
