The role of plastic surgery in the treatment of malignant melanoma.

I Eshima1.

Abstract

For the majority of patients with melanoma today, surgical extirpation with primary closure or skin grafting is the optimal mode of treatment. The more complex plastic surgery techniques are particularly useful for reconstruction of the head and neck region and for the extensive surgical defects that require more than the conventional methods of reconstruction.
