[Chromosome aberrations induced by mycoplasma infections in human peripheral blood lymphocytes].

O A Chernova, E N Volkova, V M Chernov.

Abstract

It is shown that in vitro infection of human peripheral blood lymphocytes by mycoplasmas (Acholeplasma laid-lawii PG8 and Mycoplasma hominis PG21) leads to multiple chromosome aberrations, predominantly to chromatid gaps and breaks. Oxidative stress in the infected cells is regarded as one of the factors causing chromosome damage.
