[The role of thyroid hormones in the regulation of phosphatidic acid, phosphatidylinositol, and polyphosphoinositide synthesis in liver cells].

O A Krasil'nikova, N A Babenko.

Abstract

The effect of thyroxine on total phospholipid, phosphatidic acid, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate and phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate synthesis in albino rat hepatocytes, has been studied. It has been found that the hormone enhances the [14C]palmitic acid incorporation into lipids. It has been shown also that phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate mimicks the effect of thyroxine on lipid synthesis, while exogenous sphingosine abolishes it. Sphingosine causes a significant inhibition of phosphoinositide synthesis in intact liver cells.
