Abstract
Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is the most common cause of childhood and travellers' diarrhoea. The ability of ETEC to adhere to the intestinal epithelium of the host is an important virulence determinant, and adhesion is mediated by proteinaceous surface appendages called colonization factors.Entities:
