Abstract
Patients with active tuberculosis who are noncompliant with their prescribed medical treatment program pose a serious hazard to others as well as to themselves. If directly observed therapy cannot be implemented, involuntary confinement of such patients is ethically justified in both secular and Jewish law. This discussion of the Jewish view on this issue is drawn from classical, biblical, talmudic, and rabbinic sources.Entities:
