Abstract
Pivmecillinam was compared with cotrimoxazole in the treatment of uncomplicated bacterial cystitis in general practice. Similar bacteriological cure rates were obtained with the two treatments. Although micrococci were judged resistant to pivmecillinam by the disc sensitivity method used, cystitis attributed to these organisms and to resistant strains of Proteus mirabilis responded as readily as those due to apparently sensitive Gram-negative bacteria.
