Abstract
The European Pig Gene Mapping Project (PiGMaP) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) porcine linkage maps for chromosomes 3 and 9 have been aligned by typing three USDA microsatellites from chromosome 3 and five from chromosome 9 on the PiGMaP reference families. Using the CRIMAP linkage analysis package, revised multipoint linkage maps were constructed for chromosome 3 and 9. Inclusion of these USDA markers in the multipoint analysis resulted in an increase in length of 47% and 33% respectively for these two PiGMaP linkage groups. This increase in size is mainly the result of extension of the ends of both linkage groups.Entities:
