Abstract
The efficiencies of different tests for epidemiological markers--phage typing, ribotyping, IS200 typing, and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE)--were evaluated for strains from sporadic cases of typhoid fever and a well-defined outbreak. Ribotyping and PFGE proved to be the most discriminating. Both detected two different patterns among outbreak-associated strains.Entities:
