Abstract
Developments in nursing practice in the United Kingdom are increasingly focusing on holistic models and approaches to care. The recognition of the importance of sexuality and sexual orientation of patients is a significant aspect of holistic care. This paper explores and discusses the literature in the arena of nurses' attitudes to patients' sexuality. From this discussion the concept emerges that nursing needs to recognize the effect that attitudes towards patients' sexuality has on nursing care, and develop strategies that allow this to be reflected on. The use of reflection facilitated by clinical supervision will be presented as a potential way forward.Entities:
