Abstract
Liver cirrhosis was induced experimentally in dogs--hemodynamically, by constriction of the hepatic vein and pharmacologically, by administration of dimethylinitrosamine (DMNA)--after which approximately 45 per cent of the liver was resected. Results indicate that death after major resection of a cirrhotic liver was caused not only by too extensive a resection but also by the rapid progression of cirrhotic changes in the remnant liver during the postoperative course.Entities:
