Informed consent and the treatment of children.

This article explores the issue of informed consent prior to treatment and procedures for children under 16 years of age. Literature on the subject is reviewed and the author discusses the different attitudes to consent found among healthcare professionals. Recommendations on how to involve children in decision making are also made.
