Abstract
This paper describes an angiomyxoid tumour in a previously unreported localization. The neoplasm has been excised and microscopic study disclosed an association of the angiomyxoid proliferation with an epithelial inclusion cyst. The tumour recurrence consisted of a large mass of purely angiomyxoid tissue. Electron microscopic study revealed the fibrohistiocytic features of the proliferating cells. This study along with immunocytochemistry ruled out nervous sheat and smooth muscle differentiation. We consider this tumour as the laryngeal counterpart of the so-called aggressive angiomyxoma of pelvic peritoneum and compare it with the group of lesions collected under the name of superficial angiomyxomas.Entities:
