Abstract
HIV-associated dementia complex is the most severe neurologic complication of AIDS. The pathologic substrate of the complex, termed HIV encephalitis, is marked by abundant infection and activation of brain macrophages. The pathogenesis of neurologic damage in HIV encephalitis is essentially undefined. Most current investigations are focused on potential viral or macrophage neurotoxins.Entities:
