Abstract
Porphyrias arise due to enzyme defects in the haem synthetic pathway. They are of concern to the anaesthetist as acute crises may be precipitated by anaesthetic drugs. Anaesthesia must be carefully managed in patients with porphyria in order to achieve a successful outcome.Entities:
