Abstract
Patients receiving inpatient treatment for alcohol dependence were followed for 31 weeks after discharge. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) attenders, when compared with nonattenders, were not distinguishable on pretreatment patient characteristics. Posttreatment attendance of AA was not predictive of drinking outcomes. However, a measure of the degree to which patients had become involved in AA did predict more favorable outcomes.Entities:
