Abstract
The occurrence of a pneumothorax in a 4-week-old infant is described. The cause of the problem is believed to have been a kink in the silastic reservoir tube. The failure of the monitors to detect the event and methods of improving safety are discussed. Difficulties may occur even with familiar equipment; the value of full monitoring and constant vigilance are stressed.Entities:
