Abstract

BACKGROUND: Intraamniotic infection may be caused by a wide variety of microorganisms. Significant maternal and neonatal morbidity have been associated with both subclinical and clinical infection. CASE: We identified a case in which Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated as the cause of intraamniotic infection, fulminant neonatal sepsis and neonatal death.
CONCLUSION: Though P aeruginosa is an unusual cause of intraamniotic infection, it is important because of its high virulence.
