Abstract
Disorders of the hallux sesamoids and associated soft-tissue structures are commonly seen. With a differential diagnosis consisting of no fewer than 30 conditions, establishing an accurate diagnosis can be challenging but is important to appropriate treatment implementation. An understanding of first metatarsophalangeal joint anatomy, function, and current diagnostic technology aids the practitioner in the diagnosis and successful treatment of these often overlooked and anecdotally managed disorders.Entities:
