Abstract
We report a case of bilateral acoustic neurofibromatosis which presented with the atypical symptom of sudden sensorineural deafness. Following corticosteroid therapy the hearing loss returned to near normal levels. The pathogenesis of reversible sudden sensorineural hearing loss in the presence of an acoustic neuroma is discussed. The importance of Gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging in the detection of bilateral acoustic neurofibromatosis is highlighted by the case report.Entities:
