Abstract

We present an infant who developed diaphragmatic rupture and secondary hernia following a successful diaphragmatic plication performed for congenital diaphragmatic eventration. The rupture occurred through the normal looking diaphragmatic tissue with an intact plication suture line, which has not been reported before. The possible etiologic factors of this secondary hernia are discussed with a brief review of the literature.
