Abstract
Inhaled interleukin 8 caused an increase in goblet cell secretion in guinea pig tracheas, which was accompanied by mucosal infiltration of neutrophils. These responses were inhibited by pretreatment with roxithromycin or erythromycin in a dose-dependent fashion. Macrolides may thus be a value in protecting against neutrophil-associated airway hypersecretion.Entities:
