Abstract
The family of epithelial sodium channels and nematode degenerins has expanded recently to include a member found only in brain, and another that functions in molluscs as a ligand-gated channel. A new gene family of mammalian ATP-gated channels has been discovered; one of its seven members plays a role in the lysis of macrophages. The mechanosensitive channel of bacteria has emerged as the simplest form of a channel protein subunit with two hydrophobic domains.Entities:
