Cross cultural issues in patient education.

Abstract

This paper discusses the role of patient education within the context of cultural diversity and adult learning theory. Cultural variations in health care beliefs are illustrated with examples from multiple ethnic groups. Strategies for developing effective cross cultural educational programs are presented.
