Abstract
Retroperitoneoscopic simple nephrectomy was successfully performed in 10 of 12 patients with nonfunctioning kidneys. The other two patients underwent traditional open surgery. The surgical procedures, technical pitfalls, surgical results and perisurgical complications of this simple retroperitoneoscopic approach are described. Retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomy is a viable alternative for simple nephrectomy and has the benefits of minimal invasiveness, more rapid convalescence and better quality of life for patients.Entities:
