Abstract
Five cases of hydrocele of the spermatic cord are presented. All five patients had a firm inguinal mass, and ultrasonography, performed to exclude adenopathy, incarcerated hernia, and paratesticular tumor, showed an avascular cystic mass superior to and separate from the testicle. A testicular hydrocele did not coexist. This typical appearance should lead to a confident diagnosis of this benign but rare anomaly. Elective surgery may prevent the development of an acquired indirect hernia.Entities:
