Abstract
The evidence for disordered mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation and reduced intracellular free magnesium in brain and body tissue of migraine suffers both between and during an attack is reviewed. We propose that between attacks these metabolic shifts cause instability of neuronal function which enhances the susceptibility of brain to develop a migraine attack.Entities:
