The value of psychiatric team screening of candidates for jejunoileal bypass surgery.

Abstract

The relationship between successful outcome of jejunoileal bypass surgery and the results of evaluation by a psychiatric team is reported on. In a surgical group of sixty-one patients, the recommendations of the team were found to be significantly related to the outcome of surgery and correctly identified the emotional hazards so common in this procedure.
