Inconsistencies in the literature on collegiate adult children of alcoholics: factors to consider for African Americans.

H E Rodney1.

Abstract

In a review of more than 50 literature entries on Adult Children of Alcoholics, the author found a number of inconsistencies. She emphasizes that clinicians and those who develop alcohol prevention programs should stop believing that certain characteristics are typical of all adult children of alcoholics. She makes specific recommendations for factors to be considered in programs for African American collegiate children of alcoholics.
