Abstract
Alopecia has been described in patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Zidovudine reportedly influences hair growth in these patients, causing regrowth or thickening. A 33-year-old HIV-infected man developed alopecia areata after beginning zidovudine therapy. The alopecia reversed after the drug was discontinued.Entities:
