Fungus implantation with wooden intraocular foreign bodies.

R F Meyer, C I Hood.

Abstract

Four cases of wooden intraocular foreign bodies are presented. In each case the foreign body was found to be contaminated by fungi which may have contributed to the intraocular inflammatory response but did not actively invade ocular tissues. Tolerance of the eyes to the retained wooden material was very poor.
