Transverse myelopathy after acupuncture therapy: a case report.

Abstract

Acute transverse myelopathy (ATM) due to acupuncture therapy is a rare neurologic condition. Diagnostic criteria for ATM consisted of acute onset of symmetrical motor, sensory dysfunction and may be associated with sphincter dysfunction with respect to the level of the spinal cord injury. In this report, the mechanism of occurrence of meylopathy and progressive symptoms which appeared after acupuncture therapy is discussed.
