Pericardial cyst. Surgical resection in two symptomatic cases.

C Abad1, A Rey, J Feijóo, G Gonzalez, J Martín-Suarez.

Abstract

Two cases of surgical resection of symptomatic pericardial cysts are reported. Pathological aspects, diagnostic methods and alternatives of management in these benign lesions are discussed. Other excised cases are also mentioned. The authors recommend excision of these cysts in all patients with a low risk in order to: 1) eliminate the tumour mass, 2) relieve symptoms and 3) allow histological examination.
