The Northridge earthquake as a trigger for acute myocardial infarction.

J Leor1, R A Kloner.

Abstract

The Northridge earthquake was followed by a 35% increase in the number of admissions for myocardial infarction to coronary care units. Our observation suggest that onset of myocardial infarction is related to certain triggers, and stressful events may be one of them.
