Fatal haemorrhage due to ruptured inferior thyroid artery aneurysm.

Abstract

A rare case is reported of an aneurysm of one of the branches of the inferior thyroid artery presenting as a thyroid swelling compressing the trachea, oesophagus and left recurrent laryngeal nerve, and complicated by erosion of the tracheal wall through which a sudden attack of bleeding into the trachea suffocated the patient immediately.
