Abstract
A case of primary retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of low malignant potential in the presence of normal ovaries is reported. The precise etiology of these neoplasms has not been defined; however, they may arise from heterotopic ovarian tissue, monodermal teratomas, embryonal urogenital remnants, intestinal duplication, or coelomic metaplasia. Although minimal data exist to define the appropriate management, it seems reasonable to extrapolate from the treatment of analogous ovarian neoplasms.Entities:
