Intravenous Energine--a case report.

D O Green.

Abstract

The intravenous route has been used with increasing frequency as a means of abusing drugs as well as co-mercial products. However, to date, no information has been available regarding the toxic effects of Energine or the kerosine derivatives following their intravenous use. A patient is presented who survived 3-4 cc of intravenous Energine with very few systemic side effects. This report provides information which may be useful in providing a guide as to what may be expected after a relatively high intravenous dose of the kerosine derivatives.
