Abstract
Administration of blood components instead of whole blood has become the most important means of transfusion support in dogs and in some settings in cats as well. Component administration entails the transfer of biological material and carries an inherent risk of disease transmission and adverse reactions. This article reviews the indications, pretransfusion considerations, and follow up in small animal patients receiving blood component therapy.Entities:
