Abstract
The transition from G1 to S phase, sister chromatid separation in anaphase, and the exit from mitosis are driven by the destruction of cell cycle regulatory proteins by distinct ubiquitin-dependent proteolytic pathways. The components and targets of these key degradation pathways are now becoming clear. Genetic and biochemical dissections of these extremely specific and well regulated destruction pathways are providing fundamental insights into the mechanisms of control of the cell division cycle.Mesh:
