Abstract
The authors proposed a new operative method for acute myocardial infarction with a prosthetic "on-lay" patch in a dog model, and functional and morphological studies were made in the acute and long survival dogs. In this method, the following advantages were observed: Improvement of cardiac functions, reduction of mortality, prevention of ventricular aneurysm, prevention of the occurrence of arrhythmias and ventricular fibrillation, minimum reduction of the intracardiac capacity and no suture dehiscence resulting in cardiac rupture. It is shown that this surgical method can be applied securely to the emergent cases of acute myocardial infarction failing to respond to medical therapy.Entities:
